About The The Mercure Bournemouth
The Gordon Family
The The Mercure Bournemouth has now been owned by the Gordon family since 2006. During which time, the family have concentrated their efforts and combined their passion for hospitality into ensuring The Mercure Bournemouth is one of the foremost and best loved Hotel in Bournemouth.
The The Mercure Bournemouth has represented the ultimate in Bournemouth luxury and facilities since the 1940’s.
In the 1970’s, The The Mercure Bournemouth became part of a group named ‘North Hotels’. The group was owned by Quakers, and was purchased by the Barclay brothers in the late 1970’s who invested in the development of a new wing, with the primary purpose of ensuring the Hotel would be able to comfortably host Ladies Festival Weekends. Also, facilities were provided for a licenced establishment, as Quakers were temperance Hoteliers.
From the 1980’s on to the modern day endless improvements and renovations have occurred. The Gordon family has introduced a fourth bar in the Hotel ensuring each function suite has its own private facilities. Being conscientious about the environment and the Hotel’s carbon foot print has always been an important criterion in refurbishment. This is why there has been a vast investment in the most energy efficient, ‘green’ boiler system on the market.
Various improvements to the aesthetics of the Hotel include bedroom renovations, public area redesigns and the introduction of disabled facilities. In 2014, a rebranding program was completed resulting in the distinguished gold and black signage seen today.
The Forever Gorgeous Day Spa was launched in 2009 by Hollie Power and is now one of the largest day spas in Bournemouth. Offering nine treatment rooms, and two lounges; Forever Gorgeous hosts hen parties and private events. In 2013, Hollie extended to create the ‘Hide-Away’ for more private hen days and parties looking for an über–luxurious pamper day. Please see www.forevergorgeous.co.uk for further information.
Excellence in Service
This is so important to the Gordon family, and it is one of the reasons for running a Hotel in the first place – to deliver excellent service, with a great team and to delight guests. Each member of staff is here for the purpose of the Hotel guests. This is all with the intention to ensure that every guest makes the most of their time at the Hotel and in Bournemouth.
Apprenticeships and further learning are areas which are seen as fundamental for the future of the Hotel and for the industry. For further information on how apprentices work at The Mercure Bournemouth please speak to members of our Management team.
Our guests comfort and enjoyment mean everything to us; we love to serve and we hope we have the opportunity to meet and serve you in the future.
